Punch & Excisional Biopsy

Punch and excisional biopsy are minor diagnostic dermatologic procedures performed to accurately identify skin conditions when clinical examination alone is insufficient. These biopsies involve removing a small sample or the entire lesion for detailed microscopic examination, helping confirm diagnosis and guide appropriate treatment.

A punch biopsy is commonly used for small, well-defined lesions and inflammatory skin conditions. It removes a cylindrical core of skin, including deeper layers, providing adequate tissue for diagnosis. An excisional biopsy involves complete removal of a lesion and is preferred for larger growths or when malignancy is suspected. Both techniques are essential for evaluating persistent rashes, pigmentary disorders, nodules, and suspicious skin lesions, including possible skin cancers.

At our clinic, biopsies are performed with precision and care, focusing on diagnostic accuracy, tissue preservation, and optimal cosmetic outcomes.
